SHOREHAM FORESHORE RESERVE & CAMPGROUND
STATUS: COMPLETED 2025
LOCATION: SHOREHAM, VIC
A series of shelters to replace existing, dilapidated structures throughout the Shoreham Foreshore Reserve & Campground. Working alongside the Shoreham Foreshore Committee and the government Department of Environment, Energy & Climate Action (DEECA) to realise this joyful public project that provides much improved amenity and new opportunities.
Each shelter has it's own purpose and identity; the largest, in the round, is a meeting place for large groups, such as scouts; it is s a place for story telling; performance; smoking ceremonies, cooking & eating together. The Point, as it has become known, is a lookout with multipurpose furniture that can give the local surfers the best vantage point to check out the nearby breaks or to engage in quiet reflection. All Australian hardwood construction should continue to provide shelter for many years to come in the harsh marine environment. Shelter 1, close to accessible amenities and provides a fully accessible seating area and BBQ.
